The 23rd Thing

Wow! I can't believe I did the whole thing. I think my favourite things are actually doing a blog and checking out the Web 2.0 Awards list. I can honestly say that I learned a lot! I am glad I had the opportunity to learn all the things that were in the program. One thing that I found problematic though is that it took a lot longer that 15 or 20 minutes to do each one. There's just too much stuff to check out. I found that I didn't have time to do it at work but I made sure I did it at home (the last few on vacation). I probably would do something like this again if it was something that I was interested in like this one. It helps that there is a prize at the end of it all too.

Audiobooks

Ah, audiobooks. The end is near. It has been a while since I have tried to investigate audiobooks. I know I was looking into it at one time, when I was looking into getting an mp3 player. I think I didn't rush into purchasing one because I didn't really see anything that I was interested in reading on one. I had to check out things kinda quickly today (running out of time). I will take another look when I have more time and can actually download it onto an mp3 player.

Audiopoding

I have been interested in podcasts ever since I got a cell phone that is also an mp3 player. I have yet to figure out how that works. Perhaps, now that I know a little more about this through the podcast.com community, I will figure it out. I had a little trouble finding a podcast that I thought was interesting. I did come up with one. It's called "Book Recommendations, Blog and Podcast: Books on the Nightstand". It looks and sounds interesting. I have added the feed to my bloglines account.

YouTube

I have seen YouTube videos before. I used to have some favourites on my Facebook page but they disappeared when Facebook went to the new Facebook. I do have a favourite from our own library. I think it's great.

Web 2.0 Tools

Well. I must admit, I spent a lot of time checking out some of these. I am very glad that some of the nominees have already been checked out in previous excercises. I could spend all day looking into some of these.
I am going to talk a little about .docstoc in this post. I found a really hilarious story in the humour section called "Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer". I discovered a powerpoint display that had some pictures in it that I got in an email a while back. Beautiful pictures.
I'm not exactly sure how this would be useful in a library setting, but I did see some documents regarding libraries there. I suppose it would be useful if you wanted to see how others were doing things.
There is a lot of good stuff there. You should check it out. http://www.docstoc.com/

Zoho Writer and Google Docs

Wow. I had no idea that there were free word processing tools online. This will definitely help anyone who doesn’t have a word processor on their computer. I know they are expensive to buy. I tried to publish to my blog but it didn’t work.

PBwiki

I am not sure if I have this quite down pat. I did manage to add my blog to the list. It took a couple of tries though. Was not sure if I wanted to try another favourite list.
I am having a little trouble with certain punctuation in my blog. I canèt (can not) type a quotation mark at all. Not sure what the problem is but it makes it hard to say what I really want to.
